Validators and actions are very similar: you can find them in plugins and they allow you do to custom actions.

The only difference between validators and actions is that a validator is a series of "checks" that will determine if an action will be executed or not: it acts as a middleware. In fact validators have the block "Continue" in the toolbox, while actions don't.
